I recorded the hand movements of the Principal of St Mary's Primary School in Belfast as she spoke of the journey of the school pupils through their education.

St Mary's is an intercultural school with many children from the Traveller, Roma and Immigrant communities.

The hand movement images were then used as the starting point for this series of paintings.
